HISTORY OF ST. GABRIEL’S PAST PUPILS ASSOCIATION

1943 the history begins as Rev. Fr. Alfred Mariotta SDB started an informal past pupils’ association in the school. in the year 1945, i.e., 14.07.1945 Mr. S. Natarajan and Mr. C Ratnaswamy Senior Teachers of our school organized a meeting of the past pupil in the presence of the school Headmaster, Rev. Fr. Alfred Mariotta SDB During the meeting they formed the unit and named it “THE OLD BOYS’ ASSOCIATION OF ST. GABRIEL’S HIGH SCHOOL”.

The first president of the unit was Mr. Sankaran, the then Deputy Commissioner of Corporation of Madras. Under his great leadership the unit moved to a great level in the school. Following his leadership of Mr. Amalorpava Nathan (Deputy Secretary, Home Department) occupied the president post, followed by Mr. P. Nayagam (Corporation of Madras), Mr. B.V.S. Mani (Industrialist, Beehive Foundries, Chennai 108.), Mr. M. Vincent Simon (Assistant Headmaster, St. Gabriel’s Hr, Sec. School), Mr. C.K. Logadoss (Leading Advocate and Former District Commissioner Don Bosco Scouts Chennai), Mr. S. Sampath Kumar (Office Superintendent, Anti TB Association of Tamilnadu, DMS office), Mr. J. Satish (Entrepreneur MONEYPARK – Insurance and Investment Consulting firm), Mr. P.S. Amaresan (Trading), Mr. N. Saravanan (CRI Pumps Distributor), and at present Mr. P.S. Amaresan.

The Golden jubilee of the unit was celebrated in the year 1995, Rev Fr. Cedric A. Bout SDB inaugurated the celebration. In the year 1996 Rev. Fr. Sean McFerran SDB consented to be the chief guest for the valedictory function. This was under the leadership of the then President Mr. S. Sampath Kumar.
